Game requires DirectX 10 or 11, Can't play
Hello
I am trying to play F1 2012, but it requires DirectX 10 or 11. My OS is Windows 7, and it looks like (according to system info) i am running directx 9 at least.

But, i have tried to download direct x 11 and it only does 9. It does not update past that. It sais, 'up to date or later software already installed.

And, when i launch F1 2012 why doesn't it automatically update DirectX 11? I have gone to microsoft site, and they have no download link for directx 11, seems to download directx 9 only.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Try running the DXSetup.exe in the Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2012\support\DirectX directory.

List your other PC specs. If your GPU does not officially support Dx10 or Dx11 or if your PC does not might the other system requirements, there might be some incompatibility prodlems. Alternatively, you could try the Steam support page for DirectX installation problems. http://Here is the one for your game, if not, follow the link in the second half of the page

...thank you, i just did that and it did update Direct X. But still i get the same error on trying to launch F1 2012 "Requires DirectX 10 or 11 support"
- I'm mythed to what is wrong, another window pops open when i close the error for DX10 and DX11, it said something like "unable to open (another app is running)."

You have an integrated gaphics card and will not be able to run DX11 games without a discrete (aftermarket, my preference is Nvidia) graphics card, I would also contact the manufacturer of the game first and see if there is a way to run it in DX9 compatibility mode.

This post is 3.5 years old, you might want to consider asking here:

That being said, you're probably also on an integrated GPU that neither supports DirectX 10 or 11.
