Error Code: -7 Failed to load web page (unknown error).

I receive the "Error Code: -7 Failed to load web page (unknown error)" error on the "Steam - Update News" screen each time there are new news items when I restart steam. Online gameplay has not been affected, only the Update News screen. Any ideas why this has been occuring or what it means?

It has been occuring for a few months now. It only happens when there are new news items.

The Firebind steam test comes back successful. I've refreshed my steam files, but of course there are no more news updates for me to see. I'll try to chime back in later to update the thread. Thanks!

Some news updates just came through for me and the same error is still occuring.

I'm running Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection on Win7 Enterprise. It is fully patched with no other issues.

Actually, that Realtek NIC was disabled. The Boradcom NIC was the one being used. I've re-enabled the Realtek and installed a newer driver though. The Realtek is/was only used to access a NAS I had been testing on a non-routable address space, so I wouldn't think it would make any difference.

I just disconnected from an online game and some more news updates came through. The same problem still exists. The Steam - Update News window is blank until it times out and displays the Error Code: -7.

I'm having the same problem, but only when I try to access the market or inventory.

I'm also running into this problem with error code: -7 whenever I try to access any of the store or community pages in the Steam Client.

I have the same issue. I can access my library and communication within games are fine but accessing anything besides the library is moot.

i have a whole stack of error codes and this is one of em. further youtube gievs me an error
terraria i appearently have to launch via the steam client (because im appearently not) a google tab takes 3 minutes to open. note this started when i started my pc when i got home i so didn't do ♥♥♥♥. on side note the letterbutton bar u use to type on my phone is crashing. how is that even possible sirieusly. and a site called discord(kinda like ts3 or skype) makes the window not respond. so i cant directly contact the only guy i know that has knowlege of computers
