Direct3D initialization error

Hi everybody!
I installed Trine 2 but after the setup box, I have the following error message :
"Direct3D initialization error
Failed to initialize hardware accelerated D3D device.
This is an unrecoverable error and will cause the application to exit"
My drivers are updated and I have DirectX 11 installed. My graphic card is a NVIDIA OPTIMUS.
Ideas to solve this issue?

If you have not already done so try restarting your PC

I did restart, it did nothing. Other then that i edited the config to get the right resolution so i am able to play, still the messages are anoying.

I'm doing some wild guesses here because we're unable to reproduce this issue at the office, but a google search shows that people have similar issue with other games as well. Most of them have been fixed by choosing a resolution which fits your own screen perfectly.

Open the "Run..." command from the start menu (or press Windows + R on your keyboard). In the following window, write %appdata% and press enter - it should take you to the /AppData/Roaming folder. From there, open the "Trine2" folder, and remove the options.txt file that you should find inside. This will reset all the game options back to default. After removing it, try start the game again - this will make you a new options.txt.

After you have a brand new options.txt, find these rows inside:
setOption(renderingModule, "ScreenWidth", 1024)
setOption(renderingModule, "ScreenHeight", 768)
and change the numbers to fit your screen resolution.

I hope this helps for now, we're trying to find more info about it. If this does work for you, we'd love to know about it.

Same here, followed this guide and now Trine 2 is un full hd, work properly and I can play, but that error message still appear

How do you manage to play even if you receive the error message ? Because when I try to run Trine 2, when I receive this message it says " this is an unrecoverable error and will cause the application to exit".

Try to do as write above by AnniFB, it worked for me and the error message disappeared after I restarted my pc

The Strange thing is that when I open the "option" file, the line "setOption(renderingModule, "ScreenWidth", 1024)" doesn't exist. There's only the line with "ScreeHeight". I've tried creating the line, to be able to put my screen sizes, but nothing changes either...

What do you choose in "Stereoscopic 3D mode" ?

I uninstalled the game, so I can't really help you. I didn't touch "Stereoscopic 3D mode", I only changed the resolution and everything worked fine

Install the runtimes supplied with the game manually.

Open the local game folder and install stuff from there. You can post the contents of the folder here and I'll tell where the installers are.

The only things to install there are in the game folder is DirectX "DXSTEUP". Appart from that all there is is "application extension", "fbq files", and "text document". And of course the laucher and the game without launcher.
