Direct3D initialization error

Hi everybody!
I installed Trine 2 but after the setup box, I have the following error message :
"Direct3D initialization error
Failed to initialize hardware accelerated D3D device.
This is an unrecoverable error and will cause the application to exit"
My drivers are updated and I have DirectX 11 installed. My graphic card is a NVIDIA OPTIMUS.
Ideas to solve this issue?

Install older version of the game, works every time. Properties/Betas and chose to install older version.

Sounds good. Its can be work. But now i can't try.

I recommend those of you who are experiencing this issue take a look at the Trine 2 FAQ[frozenbyte.com] at our forums and try the solutions under the "Troubleshooting" section.

You could also try to update your drivers or change the game settings (resolution, graphics options).

I know this is a necro so apologies but I found a 'fix' of sorts.

Running in windowed mode allows me to run the game at the settings I wish where as before I was stuck at default values.

Spec wise: 6700K, 290X, 16GB RAM, SSDs, Windows 10 etc.

This thread is from 2014, nVidia Optimus no longer exists. Your issue is not related to nVidia Optimus.
