How do you make alt Steam accounts on one computer?

I'd like to get a Spiral Knights hat by inviting Steam friends, but most of my friends already have SK. So how can I make alts for myself?

You can make as many Steam accounts as you want on the same email.

I can make alt accounts, but I have to invite them when they're online while I'm in SK.

I can't have 2 steam accounts open at once, can I?
