It wants me to download updates or even a different version of the game taking 11 hours!!. WHY IS THIS S**T NEEDED!!!!! I WANTED TO PLAY A TRAIN SIMULATION GAME!!! NOT CHAT TO PEOPLE!!! IF I WANT TO DO THAT, ILL GO TO A *&&^ing PUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you referring to Steam?

Well, that's because Steam is the form of DRM the developer and/or publisher has chosen to be placed on their game.

However, many people - including myself - don't mind Steam at all. In fact, we like it, because it offers more than just DRM, such as friends list, instant messaging, voice chat, achievements, screenshots, these forums, the workshop and more.

You JUST bought the game and you're moaning that it needs to be downloaded from Steam? Well, yes. That's how it works. How else is it going to get the content to your computer? I'm not one who believes in fairies, so I'm afraid that's out of the window.

If you bought a retail copy, your DVD is going to be out of date as the developers have issued updates and patches which are automatically added to your game once it is installed.

I do. This should be an option like the forums on the Euro Truck Simulator games. There is no obvious way to install the game and not its taking half an hour to update it. IM regretting openeing this thing now and even more going out in the rain to buy it!

Erm how ami going to get it on the computer#????? well the round thing called a Disc inside the box is a pretty obvious and reliable system to do that. I put the disc in the drive, it runs the set up and 5 mins later i play the game.

Installing from Disc ("the round thing inside the box") rather than Steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382

As previously mentioned, your Round Thing Inside the Box is going to be out of date as the developers have issued updates and patches which are automatically added to your game once it is installed.

Riveting Do that bit after ive installed it or prompt me "updates are available" very simple than having this unfathomable crap on the computer

The point of Steam is to update games automatically the moment the update is published. That was the incentitive towards Steam being created and released in 2003.

In regards to your comment about the Round Thing in a Box, times have changed. Do we still use cartridges to play our console games...? And before you come back about console games using DVDs, do remember that many games can be downloaded to consoles just like you download games from Steam. Console games also force you to update when an update is available. So, as I said, times have changed.

One such update was upgrading all 2012 versions to the 2013 versions for free. Be happy, not disgruntled.

The 3DS and DS are handhelds. Sega Master System is well out of date. I was talking about home consoles, PS3/Xbox/Wii/U, and as I said: Times have changed. We're approaching 2013 now. We're not in the 90s and 00s.

Sadly it is, but it was a quality machine. I can only comment on the Xbox, but thats a disc, bung it in and away you go.

Windows and Steam are two completely different pieces of software. What you've just said there is on par about me complaining about a Ford and saying "And there's me thinking Ferrari were to make these easy for anyone to drive".

Anyway, I've given you the reasons why Steam is used for some games. If you're not going to listen and just throw a grump, then I'm out of here. I can be helping people who genuinely want help.
