Show more than five recent games
I have searched high and low for the answer to this without success. Possibly my search term suck.

I want to be able to right click the Steam system tray icon and have it show more than the five most recent games I have played.

I considered that this may simply be a registry setting so I created a fake exe c:\nonexistant.exe added it as a non stean game and to my library and then ran it which in turn added it to the recent list. I did this so that I have something unique to search the eregistry for. This however cae up empty so I moved to looking for a file that contains this list information.

Again I was not able to successfully find what I was after. Anybody got any ideas on how to dhave the list show more than the five most recent games?

Not sure if you're using windows 7, but this is how it works for me..

Right Click taskbar > properties > Start Menu > Customize : Then it says "Number of recent items to display in Jump Lists" change that to what you want.

Also, when you right click steam in the taskbar, you can pin certain games to that jump list, if that's handy for you..

That might be a solution that works for him, but does the Jump List option include access to the Library, or Community, etc?

The System Tray is the icon that lives on the right side, under the white triangle next to the clock. It uses the same Steam icon as the taskbar icon, just smaller.

I'm using Windows 8 and my jump list settings says show 10 items, but I only see one. Anyone have any ideas ?

Since all shortcuts on the jumplist menu (store, community, etc..) seems to count as one entry; just raise the number in the settings to 12 or higher, depending on how many games you want to show.

Thanks Dex, I totally didn't realize that those "community" links counted towards the jump list count for games.

Not quite right im afraid, this thread in in relation to the system tray icon.

Well, there are two answers proposed, thus far.

1. Contact Valve's Official Support, or a more official channel, to get an actual solution.

2. Run Windows 7 or Windows 8, and "pin" your Steam icon to the taskbar. Once pinned adjust the size of the Jump list to allow more games to be displayed. The biggest different is the location of the icon.

Woo Hoo! Just had to upgrade (old PC died) to win8. The taskbar thing was bothering me, as I could figure out WHY I couldn't pin more games, but not how to open more slots. Thanks!

Heavy days... I would like really want to know how to increase my recent list of games when I right click on the steam icon in my task bar (on the right-hand side). :(

Lower the amount of menu items displayed by Steam, then you will have more menu space for games. Configure the menu and kick everything out.

seems to be that people do not understand the difference between the windoze jump list and the tray icon jump list
the question is for the tray icon steam jumplist NOT for the windoze jump list
and yeah i would like to know that too

So what? The Steam jumplist configuration applies to the TNA icons menu as well.
