Error: Ubisoft Game Launcher:
There was a problem starting your game, the Ubisoft Game Launcher was not found. Please try re-installing the game. Error code is 2.

I get this error when trying to run Far Cry 3. It's annoying and I don't know what to do. Also, when I try to download and install Ubisoft Game Launcher, it tells me this.

Uplay Installer Setup:
A more recent version of the application is already installed.

So steam is telling me I don't have Uplay, and Uplay is telling me that I DO have Uplay.

So when I go looking for Uplay anywhere on my computer (and I have searched steam forums for the solution) there isn't one. As far as I know, it's nowhere on my laptop. So then why is Uplay telling me it's installed and up to date?

I really just want to play my 50 dollar Farcry 3. Someone help me...

I found a solution to my problem. I simply went through "regedit" in my laptop, and deleted anything and everything that came up when I would type "Farcry3", "Uplay", and "Ubisoft". (Even firewall exceptions, just to be sure) After that I was able to download, install, and update Uplay. Now downloading Farcry 3, I hope this all works.
I'm having the same problem. I've gone through regedit and deleted everything related to ubisoft or the game launcher and am still recieving the message that there is already a more recent version installed. I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ frustrated over this. ♥♥♥♥ UBISOFT
Hmm...And I feel like there is nothing that could fix a problem like this, better than regedit. On my laptop my hotkey to "Find next" is F3 and every time another item is highlited, I deleted it. Even if it was in as firewall exceptions, or firewall blocks. It's really weird that our computers would do this. Before Farcry 3, I never ever had Uplay, but it was saying I did...anyway

I guess I can only make sure I mentioned everything
In Regedit, find next, and type
Farcry3 (delete everything that comes up)
Uplay (delete everything)
Ubisoft (delete everything)

well, thats what fixed it for me. I DID make sure that farcry was uninstalled too. There will be a lot less ♥♥♥♥ to delete if you do that first.

And if you did all this, I'm sorry. I guess I was no help heh. I did want to make my problem noticed for other people if they're having my issue.
Hello man... first time helping out at Support...
Was with the same problem, used the Regedit but not so "forced":

1) Try to reinstall using this installer: \Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3\Support\GameLauncher

If while trying to install, it says that you have a more recent version

2) Open regedit (windows + R)
3) Delete: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ubisoft\Launcher
4) Repeate step 1, that now should work and try to open, or reinstall (i didn't need) FC3.

Worked for me, I tried right now. I hope it helps.
Hails (and sorry for poor english) from Brazil. :D

i havent \Launcher folder :S
Well, if you don't have this folder, your computer shouldn't say that you already have an UPlay installed... Have you tried the first step? What message is shown when you try to run?

THANK YOU!
thanks too all of you
:P It's been a long time since I posted this. Glad help came eventually
And this is why I play PC games over console. Fixes are easier to find.
But there are less problems with console :P Either way I like PC more
