this happened to me on another game and the crap i had to go through to get it sorted, you know as i typed the code i knew, I KNEW this would be just another fail i expected no less... i want a new cd key i'm paying for a service i did not get, yet again

yeah sounds good but 2 sealed copies? i'd like to ask why are faulty products being put on the shelves, why would they be placed on a shelf to be sold if the product does not work? how could this repeatedly slip past steam? i see no product recall lol ...
i'm not really looking for an answer there because i don't think i will really find one / i think i already know the answer.

This thought pattern seems to completely ignore the above where you basically already proved that the product could and probably did work fine, for the first guy who redeemed it, and then fraudulently returned it to the store, only to be put back on the shelf like a working product.

If you prefer to keep blaming Steam go right ahead, that seems to be the path you're preferring to take, but you're doing it by dismissing very likely alternate scenario's.

that being the case then steam should know of the culprit as he has used the code fraudulently and stop the problem,

i'm not trying to argue here, only winge about my situation as it is undeserved, and some what as yet unanswered by authorities with the ability to rumage ina box and pull outa new code for me.. hehe, ohwell, maybe they wil let me return this game aswell..? fingers crossed..lol as i see that as my quickest resolution >.< nice to have a second op to bounce off cheers :P :)

This is the reason I stopped purchasing retail games years ago. So many people steal cd keys it is just not worth the hassle. Customers steal the keys, reseal the game, then return it for a refund. The next guy has to go through all of this. Not only that, but people from the warehouse steal cd keys as well as store employees. A lot of these stores have shrinkwrap machines in the back.

Either way, this is the retail store's problem, not Steam's. You should contact the retail store/publisher or just return the game for a refund. Valve is not getting any money for these retail games, so bug the people that are.

i just had the same thing happen to me, bought a retail copy of the game, looking at my options at to what can be done with THQ ( although i don't have any hopes that i'll hear back after being sold off ) the retailer and steam...if i can get away with out returning it then that is a win
