Gamestop Digital Download

I recently bought a Gamestop Digital Download code for Assassins Creed 3 and I was wondering if I could get the game in my Steam Library. My recipt came with the code and something called Ref ID. Can anyone help me out on how to get the game on Steam and what a Ref ID is?

Only certain retail keys can be activated

Mostly Steamworks games like DeusEx:HR or Civ5 and such. AC3 cannot be. The refID is just the gamestop 'receipt code'

I didnt see AC 3 on the list, does that mean I cant download it through Steam?

Ok so I wont be able to earn acheivments, take screenshots, etc. If I add AC 3 (bought from Gamestop Digital Downloads) to Non Steam Games?

That is correct. Though uPlay may have something similar?

You CAN take screenshots in Non-Steam games, if you add the shortcut to Steam (as per Janfebmarch's post above). However, they will not show up in the AC3 gamehub because it is not the Steam version of the game.
