Sonic the hedgehog 4 episode 1 help
This was posted in the gaming forum, but I can't see any actual solution to the issue. I just purchased sonic the hedgehog 4 episode 1 and it won't start up. The little window comes up that says it is preparing to load and well, nothing happens after it disappears.

My system specs are as follows for those that want to know:

OS: Windows 7 64x
Processor: Intel core i3 M330 @ 2.13 GHz (4CPUs), ~2.1 GHz
Memory: 8GBs
Graphics card: 1GB ATI mobility Radeon
DirectX: Version 11
Hard drive space: 640 GBs

I followed the "official" instructions I found to this particular issue and it still isn't fixed. Does anyone else happen to know how to fix this problem or what I can do to get it fixed, and if not, is it possible I can get a refund for a game that won't actually work and where would I go to ask for such if there is no solution?

Thanks so much for any help anyone can give!

Were these the instructions you followed? If not, give them a try: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6218-USFX-5568

Those were indeed the instructions I followed. They did not work. Anyone else with ideas?

You could try this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7241-EYON-2343

Do this for both clientregistry.blob and appupdatestats.blob

Thanks anyway, but that didn't work either. Got anything else?

What happens when you try to run the EXE directly?

For me, this is located at ..\Steam\steamapps\common\sonic the hedgehog 4 ep 1

The .EXE you are wanting to use is "SonicLauncher.exe"

It just brings up the config window and proceeds to do a lot of nothing when I tell it to save the changes and run.

Huh. That's pretty odd.

Not really sure what else I can suggest. Maybe your computer just doesn't meet the minimum requirements; after all it doesn't mention MOBILITY Radeon, just "standard" Radeon, on the system requirements.

Steam has a "No refunds" policy, but reviewing on a case-by-case basis they do sometimes offer refunds. You'll need to speak to Steam Support about this. Steam Support requires a seperate log in, so you'll need to create one there. Steam Support can be found here: http://support.steampowered.com/

When creating a new Support ticket, be sure to fully explain what you have tried, that none of it worked and that you are requesting a refund on the item. Do so politely and calmly, as you must remember there is a "No refunds" policy that you agreed to in the SSA, so they are more than within their rights to simply deny it. With any luck, though, you'll be granted your refund.

Do note that Steam Support generally take between 2-7 days to respond.

Sorry we couldn't get your game running. :(

I don't know if this has any direct relation to what is going on, but I think it does.

I'm afraid not. \Display0 is what my config page shows, as well.

Shoot....Thanks for the help anyway.

Do you have the Sonic_Vis.exe in your folder? That is the game itself. I assume double clicking on that does nothing?

It didn't. It told me a bunch of files were missing, I decided to take a leap of faith and I went around that and it works just fine. The launcher itself still does nothing, and going through the steam client does nothing as well

It said a bunch of files were missing? Didn't the verifying integrity of the game cache files catch that, back from the "Games do not run after 'Preparing to Launch'" Support Article? :S

However, you are now in the game and hopefully it's all running okay!

No, it didn't o_e. It was missing the d3dx9_41.dll and it was also missing the XINPUT1_3.dll... I stuck those in the folder and the sonic_vis.exe is working.

First I put in the d3dx9_41 and then it told me the XINPUT1_3 was missing as well. Ugh, what a head ache for one ten dollar game >_>.

Try running the DirectX Redist.

(Close Sonic 4 first, though)

I say this because you shouldn't really be placing .dll files yourself. Especially if you meant you've put them in your Sonic 4 folder, since none of those are there for me... Seems odd.
