How do you change your profile background

just wondering how to change your steam background as it is a requirement for the pillar of community badge

Edit profile and select a background. You need to earn backgrounds before you can add them.

Also just to point out, you don't need to complete all of the tasks on that badge in order to get it, just most of them.

ok so how do i unlock backgrounds? and where is this "background button located when i go to edit my profile?

Backgrounds can be crafted from a complete set of cards (game specific) this also unlocks emotes and coupons. Another method is using the community market.

Just go to the market and the search bar write " Backgrounds" and boom there they are. just buy one that you want, look at them and see if you like it. and then once you buy one go to "edit profile" on your page and then scroll till you see "Profile Background" under the summary thing and select your background and BOOM your all set. :3

Backgrounds can be bought a dime a dozen from the market. You could probably convince one of your friends to give you a spare too.
