Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Will Not Launch

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer will not lauch, it quickly jaunts a "Preparing to launch" screen which disappears rather quickly, then nothing else happens.

I've tried every solution I could find on the web, scouring for an answer for the past three hours.

I've reinstalled it twice, verified the cache, deleted blob files, etc, etc.

I've contacted Steam support only to be directed to Activision support only to be directed to Steam support...

I'm very close to pulling my hair out.

Note: Single player mode launches fine, multiplayer refuses to launch.

Word of advice onine games ♥♥♥♥ for Steam, I rather play on Xbox 360 anything besides their online servers, but what do you mean multiplayer doesn't launch? I mean, does it show a black screen or are you attempting to search for a match over the internet?

It doesn't launch at all. Steam shows a preparing to launch screen, it disappears, then nothing.

I have had absolutely no issues ever playing any online multiplayer game on steam until now.
I can even play CoD4 and Black Ops with no issues, however this is pissing me off.

Anyone? Any thoughts? Pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ I bought this game and now I can't play it because neither Steam nor Activision want to help.

Ok, I've had problem with few games older ones but they crash only on the expansion packs, but back to what you are saying... Best thing I can say stop playing steam or buy CD game best I got, but if anything its probably their recent updates which doesn't surprise me steam has gotten more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the month anyways I stop playing the games when they do nothing but ♥♥♥♥ up everytime me anyway well good hope this helps somewhat but ok.

Lol, thats one thing me and you have in common, I was thinking the same thing after I bought both of the modern warfare games; this is why i play on the Xbox 360 easier to play on and don't need no special hardware just to play one game, but activision doesn't seem to want to help i find their support to be a waste of my time but I'm afraid thats all I have to offer.

i have the same problem, single player mode works fine but when i launch multiplayer it doesn't start .. anyone have any idea to fix it?

I've been unable to find a solution to the problem.
Steam and Activision give me no solutions and both continue to circle jerk me about the issue.
I'm kind of pissed off about this actually, it's really the only time I've ever felt like I've been "burned" by Steam.

I'm almost 100% certain it's something that's an easy fix also, but I'm getting ZERO help with this issue, and it continues to anger me.
