Steam Backup: Please insert disk 2
I recently had to format my computer and I backup'd my games on an external hard drive.

Whenever I try and install a game, I get the message "please insert disk 2". The folder is split up into many disks, but I never used to have this problem. Why is this happening?

What worked for me:

Go into Disk_1 folder. Move Steam (it's just an icon file, not sure if necessary), autorun (setup info file) and steambackup.exe into another folder. I just randomly copied them in folder 5. Then I ran steambackup.exe from folder 5 and it started installing all the games.

I tried to move disk 2 into disk 1 folder but it asked If wanted to move overwrite the sku.sis file so I didn't and it still asked for disc 2.

but I have sussed it. when you restore don't point the wizard to the disk 1 or disk 2 folders. just point it at the game folder above in my case D:/ steam backs /rocksmith.

sorted for me.

Could have saved alot of headache if u just manually backup these...
> Steam.exe
> SteamApps subfolder and all it's contents.
> UserData subfolder and all it's contents.

and not waste your time with Steam Backup.
