No AUDIO coming from HD TV from PC?
I've had a new Desktop a few months back, and have hooked it up to my Samsung HD TV via DVI to HDMI cable. Now the problem is.. I can't play any audio on my desktop that will come through my HD TV stereo. I can hear my desktop audio fine through my PC headphones but I can't hear audio from the TV itself.

I've tried putting my green audio cable into ym PC to my HDTV but it hasn't worked.. any other suggestions?

Have you checked the sound control panel?

When you hook up the TV with a HDMI cable (assuming you are using an hdmi cable with audio) You should see something like this.

Select the TV from the sound list and click set default.

Yeah, I have everything shown like that. Set to default, but still nothing. Although I have an unusual thing where it shows another list of 5 TV's underneath my current one which are shown as "not plugged in" which is highly weird.

Did you check really carefully on the tv and make to make sure 1 of the ports doesnt have any thing like PC HDMI written under it. They sometimes use black indented text on a black background so its really hard to see. I have to use a mini torch to see it on my samsung tv. some TVs have a dedicated HDMI for PC. Or if not did you try all the HDMI ports?

I'll double check, but I'm sure it's in the right port.

I thought you needed a jumper on your vid card to get sound through an HDMI cable. ??

I got picture through fine, but the audo doesn't come through, even though there's the volume icon which shows the audio working for it. I don't know anything about jumpers on GPU's though :/.

Meh, guess I'll just stick with it. Can't be bothered to go through everything to sort this stupid thing out, been doing that every week for my PC these past few months.

Thanks anyway.

guess what. you are in for a headache. I have the same issue, but thorugh my surround sound head unit. now my symptom is that i have sound but it is not routed through my front two l and r speakers. using a tv only you are only using those two same "stereo" speakers, and therefore your sound is bad or nonexistent. i can advise you to make sure your tv icon that does work is configured to stereo. I also have the multiple grayed out tv icons though i think i only have like 3, and they are named my head unit model# but show as a screen. This is using an Nvidia gtx 650.
