Windows Cursor Appearing Over Games Randomly
Just as the title of this thread states, when I'm playing games via Steam, the Windows cursor (read: not the "skinned" cursor in the game!) just appears and sits there, over the game. It's hardly game-breaking but it is woefully distracting. This applies almost exclusively to games where I'm using the controller (360 controller or Logitech F710, depending on my mood). I don't know for sure this is a Steam issue, so I'm asking if anyone else has encountered this and how they've dealt with it.

For the sake of a thorough investigation, I have a few services running that might haven been causing this problem. However I isolated each one and none of them appear to be the culprit. I had MotionCreator 2 for the Razer Hydra installed, but I've since disabled it from running on start-up. The Hydra has not been plugged in for any of these instances. Also my Logitech F710 and 360 remote are both plugged in and synced via USB dongles. That's it for things that could be causing this. I'm using a Mionix Naos 3200, and running just the standard PnP drivers. The mouse is on a flat, stable surface and I usually play from another room (HDMI cord snaked from PC to HDTV), but I know for a fact nothing is bumping the mouse.

Finally, the windows cursor will "disappear" if I wiggle the mouse. But getting up from the couch to walk to my PC to do so is a huge pain.

Are you using windowed or full screen mode while playing?

In reply to both of you:

rad, I am running in fullscreen mode for every game affected.

Fred, my controller software should not conflict. The only two controllers I'm using, as I clearly stated, are the 360 controller and F710. The F710 is the controller Valve itself showcases the software with. The 360 controller is obviously the most widely-used PC controller. Neither of them should "conflict."

In regards to your third suggestion, my "software" is current. I'm not really sure which "software" you're referring to, but if it has to do with gaming in some way, it is most assuredly current. Steam is current. All possible windows updates are current. My mouse is running on PnP, so it's "current" since it requires no additional software.

In regards to being "infected," I'm sure that's a decent catch-all but I think you're shooting a bit wide there. I've done a system scan with the built-in Windows 8 protection software and nothing has come up.

Any other ideas, people?
