Portal 2 won't start.

After downloading portal 2 every time I try to start the game it will act like it is about to start but it ends up never loading. I verified my cache files and it still doesn't work. Does anybody have any ways to help me?

I have tried that. I have also tried multiple other things and still no go. I will try to fix it tomorrow. Other wise it is another faulty game bought off of steam.
