Using http://www.numion.com/calculators/time.html
You have 16-18meg (1.6MB to 1.8MB) then you should be really looking at more like 5 hours to get it assuming it is constant speed.
Steam games are compressed (you can test the ratio simply by using the backup feature to see the difference between install and backed up size) so the physical download size is usually around HALF the installed size but not all games pack down to 50% some like Total war Shogun 2 was nearer 75% of it's install size.
My average download speed is around around 7.1 MB a second on my BT-FTCC line, the peak was 7.7 MB last time I downloaded a game over steam. EA's Origin service makes it even more confusing as that shows the virtual download speed including decompression... so you get false download speeds, not physical speed, much like Steam shows when doing a verify integrity check.
My BT deal is sold as 70meg to cover drop off over distance from 80meg actual speed at source, so I've not got much of a drop off in speed at all considering my home is miles from town in rural area.
