You've recently funded your steam wallet and market error..
I added £4.00 to my steam wallet funds this morning and bought red orchestra 2. When I when to looked on the market noticed the sell button was greyed out and this is the message I got.

You've recently funded your steam wallet using a new payment method. You'll be unable to use the market for a few days while the funds are verified.

Assuming nothing further occurs to restricts your access, you'll be able to use the community market on Sun Aprt 14 2013 08:33:23 GMT +0100 (GMT Daylight Time).

I always used the same payment details, same name and address and the debit same card. I don't think I make a mistake in any details. So why is this.

anyway I guess the best way would to send a ticket to support about it, which I have done.

Steam does this to prevent fraudulent use.

I understand this, but I always use the same payment method, its not changed since I moved address last year. I have been spending on steam nearly every week since then using the same debit card. I just wait on support....

Happened to me too. Steam Support sucks though, doubt I'll get a response.

Yeah, this system really sucks. To prevent any chance of fruad, I buy and use one-off Visa's (i.e. $25 Visa gift card, etc.) to make purchases online, b/c I do this to protect myself, I have to wait a week to be able to even POST things on the market. I can understand the reasoning, I guess, but it's not like we're using personal checks or something, I am using a REGISTERED VISA, there is no reason I should have to wait a week to post or buy on the market.

There is no waiting period to buy things from the Valve store w/ my pre-paid Visa's, and I am guessing this is b/c Valve has ways to recoup any loss through Visa if there is an issue w/ a card. Conversely, I assume this protection on the market is to prevent Valve from having to deal w/ these issues, since the funds go directly into another users Steam Wallet.

I can understand the reasoning, but it still sucks. There should at least be some kind of system where a long-term Steam user, that has had no problems what-so-ever w/ funding, can skip this week long waiting period, but I doubt that will happen.

As a side note...by the time you get a response from Steam support, the week lockout will probably have expired. They take forever to respond to all but the most urgent issues, i.e. someone hacked your account and stole your payment info, etc.

Note that using disposable cards really doesn't protect you from fraud all that much.

Well; it took support more than a week to reply to my ticket but by that time the weeks lockout had passed. Support just basicly told me the same thing as rest of you are telling me, so I didn't really get any answer from them on too why im locked.

What I believe had happen was I bought a £5 steam gift card from GAME and entered the code to get funds. The next time I bought some wallet funds, I used my visa card (the one I always use) and I believe myself it was the fact I used both payment methods in a short space of time.

Support can't bypass the lockout anyway. So even if you had them on the phone they wouldn't be able to reset the cooldown.

Actually ti's just using a different payment method that triggers the cooldown in the MARKET. If you dont' use the market using different payment methods does not trigger any restrictions on the store itself.

Of course it does, it limits the amount I could potentially get hit for, i.e. someone gets hold of the card number, the most damage they can do is w/e is left on the card, which usually isn't that much b/c the cards I get are usually only $25 cards.

Not only that, but there's no personal info associated w/ the disposable cards, so even if someone did get hold of it, they'd be harder pressed to get at sensitive info.

Valve's DB itself gets hacked? Yeah, my personal info is at risk, but they still wouldn't be able to get @ my "real" CC, or other sensitive info.

I've been having the same issue too but due to changing my password.
Steam Support isn't responding to me. :(

This system really is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So I forget my password once, and change it, so I get locked out for a week, and I can't do anything about all this money I've spent on summer appetiser uncrates. Meanwhile, these items are dropping in price to the point of being worth fractions of what they were before.

Then I get my own debit card for the first time, and decide to celebrate by spending some money on TF2, and I get locked out AGAIN for ANOTHER WEEK for a different reason! My entire school holidays have been wasted by this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! I don't even want such an extravagant security measure; if there was an option, I'd disable it!

This whole thing is an utter waste of my and everyone else's time. If such an activity were to happen, surely 3 days would be more wise? If I hadn't noticed by the 4th day, it's likely that I'm not using steam at that point in time at all!

Utterly ridiculous system. I'm very hesitant to buy anything for TF2 again, or even use steam after this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If it wasn't for the fact I hadn't lost what is equivalent to real money, or the fact that steam support is so ♥♥♥♥ that they don't offer a way to validate your identity, even if I have my passport, driver's license, or anything else at the ready.

Oh, but I can still buy from the steam store, and use the online TF2 store. I just think it's a way to lock people out of the market after buying funds to force them to use their own, more expensive services.

@Force, best thing to do is be patient or maybe actually play TF2 for some time.

I got locked out as well, its extremely frustrating.
♥♥♥♥♥♥ you Valve!!!!!

Just remove the bloody thing.
It's like Valve doesn't care about us...
On the other hand, its not like we care about Valve that much...
