Planetside 2 - Launcher not working

Hey, I have had Planetside 2 installed via steam for the last 3 months but today i encountered a peculiar problem. When I click "play" in the steam library nothing happens initially, i check the applications and notice that "launchpad.exe" is running. After a little while the planetside 2 launcher appears but is completely black and if you highlight the top left corner it says "unknown error occurred". It seems like the game is unable to launch properly from steam.

I have tried the following:

1) Deleting the file and re installing.

2) Moving the game directory to an external hard-drive

3) Running the game as Administrator

4) Waiting patiently after clicking "play" for 20 minutes.

On a side note, I am unable to connect to the official planetside 2 website. Yet EVERY other website loads perfectly fine. This is happening across 2 different browsers and I verified that the website was not blocked.

Any insight would be highly appreciated.

It might be possible that your router/ISP is blocking the game, but I don't know why that would be.

Yeah, it's strange. Was working yesterday and suddenly stopped working. I'll try removing the router from the equation and see if that helps.

On a side note -- try right-clicking on the game in your library and hit Properties, and go to the Local files tab and hit Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Running the check now. Router wasn't the problem.

Update: During the scan, I tried the planetside 2 website again and it worked, ill try launching the game again once the scan is finished.

After the scan this was the result:

1 file failed to validate and could not be reacquired.

But... the game runs now. This is the weirdest error I've seen in awhile @_@. Thanks for the help :D

Im getting this problem now and i cant seem to fix it, ive validated the files and it told me it had 500+ files to redownload, ive spent the best part of the day downloading 7gb of data, and its still not working, but like Sincore i cannot get on sony's website either, it was working fine last night... i came off and went to bed, ive done nothing to it...

Yeah, after i got it fixed and went offline it stopped working the next day as well. I think it might be an isp problem or SoE problem because my ip recently got changed and it started working fine again. If you can get onto the planetside 2 website I suggest downloading the game from there instead of steam.

Also, if you have a seperate computer in your house check to see if you can get to the planetside 2 website from there. If you can't you most likely have the exact same problem as I did and the only realy fix is to wait it out or call your isp and see if they are blocking sony's ip.

i cant get on the website, soe website or the planetside one lol i have a laptop, cant connect to it on their either, but we do have another internet connection upstairs (my parents) and i can on theirs... so i know it isnt a isp problem as were both with the same provider... well we dont have a choice lol we only have 1 provider in our area -_-

Might need to sit on it for a couple of days, but I know that it has something to do with my ip since when I logged onto Guild Wars 2 the day it started to work again, i had to confirm my identity since it didn't recognize my IP anymore. But it sucks and hopefully it will start working again soon.

Even if i remove it from steam and reinstall it... i dont see how that will solve a connection problem, there's clearly a link between me not been able to access the soe or planetside websites, and the launching not connecting to sony's servers...
