Unable to join Online games - ZM and ZP

I downloaded both Zombie Master and Zombie Panic, But whenever I join the server for either, it times out for me, like I just lost connection. I can look around the game area where you spawn for about 30 second before I get booted. I have downloaded the necessary SDK source codes from Steam, and I also made sure my firewall would allow both programs to work online. I believe I have a fast enough computer (it's a laptop, but a nice one from a year ago) so I think my problem is maybe, another program or setting in my laptop is holding up the show, or my connection speed is too slow. Right now, I am running on DSL (i think) it says it's speed is 54 Mbps, which is plenty fast enough for online play, I think.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated greatly!
