Steam and adobe flash player

Steam says that i need a specific flash player to see videos there, it shows how to get it, but when i try to do it says i already have a flash player ( i use google chrome and it comes with adobe so everytime i try to "download adobe for other browsers" it says i already have it) but i still cant see videos on steam. PS: I use win7 ultimate 64 bit

Select your OS then select the Flash player for "Other Browsers".

Since Chrome comes with Flash bundled and is updated to the latest Flash whenever a new version is released, trying to get Flash while using Chrome by going to the Adobe site and selecting "Get Flash" is a futile effort. Because, you know...it's not exactly wrong when it tells you you have the latest version.

There isn't really anything to fix. Except maybe Valve could move away from Flash finally.

But I just re-read my post and noticed that I had forgotten to point out that you'll want to copy that link I posted and paste it into a browser like IE or Firefox and download it from there.

Alternatively, you can download Flash direct from Adobe. Two things first:

1) Remember that years back Adobe bought a company called Macromedia, who originally designed Flash. The links I'm about to provide are hosted on the Macromedia site, which is now owned by Adobe. If you go to www.macromedia.com you will be redirected to Adobe's site. But these links are on the Macromedia site, so if you're a little apprehensive that I'm giving you download links for Adobe Flash on a different site, remember that the site now belongs to Adobe.

2) Any direct download links to Flash on Adobe's sites always seem to go dead after some time. If you run across this thread weeks or months after I post this, these links may no longer be working.

Is Steam still telling you that you need to install Flash? What exactly are you seeing now when you go to a Store page to view a trailer?

If all else fails, you can uninstall Flash from your PC entirely and try downloading and reinstalling this:

Steam doesn't use Trident anymore. A while back Valve switched to WebKit, which is sorta the same as Chrome. So now you need the Flash plugin as opposed to the Flash ActiveX control, which is what we needed to have installed a couple years back when Steam was still using Trident, which is what IE uses(used? Has Microsoft switched to something else since?)

Yesterday got a new update, still the same.

Nice but its not a fix in the steam program. I like that Steam adjust there program. But thanks for some solutions.

I appreciate the advice and help, 2point4. Your "alternate browser" link worked flawlessly and I am now able to view game trailers via Steam for the first time since "upgrading" to Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.

Mabeanie, the problem with that link is that it shows Windows 7 64bit but when you click on the link to Adobe it isn't there. They just have Windows 7, 8 and XP. They don't show the different versions and that's the problem. My flash works everywhere BUT steam.
