Steam and adobe flash player
Steam says that i need a specific flash player to see videos there, it shows how to get it, but when i try to do it says i already have a flash player ( i use google chrome and it comes with adobe so everytime i try to "download adobe for other browsers" it says i already have it) but i still cant see videos on steam. PS: I use win7 ultimate 64 bit

Hi,
The old way doesn't work since Adobe changed their dropdown structures. You can't specify 64-bit or not.
Head to the Archived Versions at: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
Scroll down to Flash Player archives and download the latest version there.
Once downloaded, open the zip, open the folder that does not list DEBUG.
Once there, open the appropriate win.msi and install. The .msi is for 64-bit OS. Don't choose the activeX installers since that's specific to IE.

Select your OS then select the Flash player for "Other Browsers".

Since Chrome comes with Flash bundled and is updated to the latest Flash whenever a new version is released, trying to get Flash while using Chrome by going to the Adobe site and selecting "Get Flash" is a futile effort. Because, you know...it's not exactly wrong when it tells you you have the latest version.

That link up there should work OK.
This worked good for me thanks:) but to anyone else make sure you restart after you download

You can still use the links at macromedia.com I posted:

Flash for ActiveX - http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_active_x.exe

Flash plugin for other browsers - http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin.exe

Those are still the 32-bit versions but nobody really needs Flash 64-bit.
i tired this too, and although it got me a bit farther still not working, but now i definaltey have the latest plugin for adobe but this P.O.S (STEAM!!!!!) still wont work, its a bummer
Try this fix:

1 - Go to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
2 - Select Windows 7 / Vista / 2008 / 2003 ( or whatever it is your system )
3 - Select " Flash Player for other browsers " <-- Make sure you choose " Other Browsers "
4 - Untick any bloatware that shows up ( McAfee, Chrome, etc )
5 - Download & Install
6 - Restart Steam

Try Steam Beta Client; everything working fine on that.

Could be why I never have these issues most of you seem to have, or speak of.

Its a problem with the latest version of steam. You will not need to uninstall and reinstall Flash because if it was working before steam updated there will be no issue in the futre I hope :)

I have to 2 systems running steam and both have the same issue.

Try and view content in Big Picture Mode because flash player is working correctly for me there.
Also if flash is working on the web you flash player is working correctly..

Just be a little patiant and steam might do an update soon..
Nothing is workling for me! i tryd all and rly NOTHING is working! still says : You need to have Adobe Flash Player ...blablalbla if i try to watch a trailer. 3 weeks ago it workd perfectly! Same as buying/downloading Games via Steam App. Always Steam crashd! And i had to do it via Chrome Browser. And sombody told me to download the Flash Player via the Steam Web Browser. Not sure if this is related but I recently picked up a virus somewhere that hijacked the steam window and looks just like the adobe flash update. A steam popup window comes up asking to update flash, but in my case, my flash works fine with steam so I knew something was up when I saw it.
Every tech security blog/site/forum I know warns AGAINST having adobe flash anywhere near your pc.

I use Steam to play Age of Empire on my Windows 7 pc. Does that mean I have Flash installed on my pc?

I just ran Secunia PSI to check that all my programs are up to date and it told me to update flash player. I DO NOT have flash installed. It is not listed in my program list.

Does this mean I have an outdated copy of flash on my computer courtesy of Steam?
