How to stay offline indefinitely?
I have very limited internet access. I have none at home, by choice, which means I have to go to my sister's house to get online. I (obviously) do not play online games. This is my decision and I am fine with it. However, the few game titles I have require Steam.

I have done an intensive Google search and searched these forums without success. I have offline mode set properly, but Steam will only stay offline for about two weeks. At some random and unexpected point in time, I'll get a dialog stating that Steam cannot go into offline mode because there is no log on information stored on the computer. BULL!

The end result is that I have to lug my rather large and heavy computer to my sister's house to reauthorize Steam. I do not want internet access for my own reasons and I would really like to play the games I've purchased without the fuss. What steps can I take to ensure that Steam remains offline indefinitely?

OK, here I am again, lugging my computer to my sister's to get my log in information re-authorized.

Anyone want to comment? Does anyone know the answer?

An Internet connection is a requirement of using Steam. There is no way to permanently go into offline mode.

I am curious to get a little more information on this. I will be deploying to Afghanistan soon, and will only have intermittent internet. When Steam is required to be online, is it just for authenticating, or is there a requirement for "good" internet connection?
