How do I unlock a game I purchased ffrom a GAME store?
Hi all, I purchased Bioshock Infinite today via a GAME store and now have an activation key, but the key is not recognized by STEAM. I know the game is not released until later, but I would assume the key should still work in advance?

Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

General serial key tips: Qs can be Os. Os can be 0s, Bs can be 8s and vise-versa. You may have to look super carefully or try a few different combinations.

If it all fails, complain to GAME that they key doesn't register on STEAM (and the copy is unplayable through legal means)

OK, thanks. The code was sent direct via email as soon as I purchased it so I'm just copying and pasting the code but it's no good.

What a rubbish service. I spoke to Game earlier (after a number of hours of trying) and they said I had to contact Steam. I have emailed them too but now have no idea where the problem lays or how long I might have to wait to play the game.

We had this earlier in another thread. Turns out the code they send by Email is for the freebie "Industrial Revolution" game, not Bioshock Infinite itself.

Does it not say this on the Email?

So I need to speak to GAME to get them to send me the correct code?

I'm not sure what GAME do, I never pre-ordered anything from them sorry. I would have assumed the same as you, that they would give a code to activate the game. It could be that they won't send it until tomorrow when the game is released.

This is the email they send.

Thanks for shopping at GAME.co.uk. This email confirms that your purchase has been processed.

If your game is available now, the details are below. If you have pre-purchased a title that hasn't been released yet, don't worry, the code will be sent straight to your inbox as soon as it is available!

If you have any questions about your purchase please contact Customer Services via WebChat

Click here { that is highlighted blue but is not an actual link } to start your download, or to see information regarding pre-purchase

Activation code: {the code is here but i have removed it}

Our refund policy does not apply to software activation codes sent by email. This is deemed to be electronically 'unsealing' the product from its wrapper.

Payment has now been taken, and any reward points earned with this purchase will be added in the next 24 hours. If you have received this as a gift, this has already been taken care of, but don’t forget to thank your gifter!

If you misplace your code, or need a reminder of it at a later date, don’t forget that you can log in with your email address and view all your downloads at the My Downloads portal.

Enjoy!

I guess that is a possibility. Thanks Canti. Fingers crossed I guess :-)

Kinda misleading if they don't tell you what it's for. But this part is the kicker:

"If you have pre-purchased a title that hasn't been released yet, don't worry, the code will be sent straight to your inbox as soon as it is available!"

Since it's not available, no code so no pre-loading it seems :(

OK, thanks Canti. Never done it this way before so maybe I'm just being a bit thick. lol

Cheers for the advice though and now you have pointed that out it seems obvious. Doh.
