Press play on Skyrim then select data files then disable/delete the particular mod. Hope this helps.

Wait, are you using workshop or nexus?

If you don't want to uninstall the game.

Go to your Skyrim "Data" folder, its at like;

C:/Programs(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/Skyrim/Data
Once there, delete the Meshes and TExtures folder, as well as any .bsa files you don't want (the base game files are all named "Skyrim - somethinghere")

Despite what people in this thread say you can't revert the game without uninstalling Then afterwards, reinstall it fresh.

There is data that is still hanging around so deleting the mods doesn't really solve the issue. So to truly revert the game (As you want to call it) requires for you to uninstall it completely, this means removing registry settings, and various other data, before reinstalling it.

I thought you were done with these forum violators! The door is that way >>>>

Don't listen to the above, you are only trying to remove an armor replacer. The only files that leaves behind are in the meshes/texture folders in the Games Data directory (depending where/how you downloaded the mod)

this just isnt true
if the mods are disabled correctly , the game will play as vanilla , the files can even be present in the data folder , if they are not active (disabled) its as if they are'nt even there ,

go to the mods site re-read the readme or post a question to the author about how to remove the files successfully , if you saved a copy of the mod on your hard drive open it up see what the files are ,and where they were installed , go into the data folder and find those files , becarefull , dont just start deleting things , make a note of what your doing . this is a good example of why its best to use a mod installer , problems like this rarely occur ,
most important --- go to the mods author and find out how to uninstall it , the person who made it will know best

Check out the STEP guide at http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Make_Skyrim_Vanilla_Again
It's long, but it worked like a charm for me. Once you've done this, it may be a good idea to:
  • make a backup copy so you don't have to go through this agony again
  • install Skyrim Mod Organizer, because all the cool kids are using it ;)

Last post was written over a year go. While intentions may be good, necroposting always spams OP's announcement window needlessly.

necroposting can save lives:
To whom it may concern, I'll add the following:
  • merely disabling plugin files will not help with vanilla files from the bsa being overwritten by same-name files outside the archive
  • stuffing around with your registry IS A BAD IDEA (and totally unnecessary to revert to vanilla)
  • uninstalling and reinstalling can be painful for some and isn't the only option in this case
The last point is especially true for us backward savages who can't even afford to redownload a mere 5GB in anything under two weeks or read dates properly. ;)
retort to concerned netizens:
Imho, this problem was never resolved optimally, one particular monkey gave very bad advice, and it's not just the OP that could benefit from the link I provided. I got here by clicking on the second or third link after googling an hour ago and was hoping to disambiguate for the next stumbler. Furthermore, I'm bad with numbers and thought it was merely a fortnight, but you can always unsubscribe from the discussion so you don't get spammed. ;)

Herewith; the end of my necroposting. Go with peace, love and understanding.

so its beem awhilesince this post. i am no longer a noob with modding anymore. now i use both nexus and the workshop and have a good understanding of actual modding.

my fix was to delete the skyrim folder in steamapps or whatever, then i just redownloaded it off steam.

thanks to everyone for the help. ;-)
