If I delete the local content off my computer does steam store my save game files?

I have almost 50 hours into Borderlands 2. If I delete it off my computer will I have to start a new character or does steam keep my old save game file when I download it again?

Borderlands 2 is supported by steam cloud, so that means yes, your save files should be safe.

how can I tell if my games are supported by the cloud? Can I back them up to the cloud?

To see if you have steam cloud enabled in a game go to your steam library > right click on game > properties > click UPDATES tab > in the lower section you'll see an option to enable/disable steam cloud synchronization. make sure it's checked.

Note that games not supported by the cloud don't have that option and the save files are stored in your hard drive and you could lose saved games unless you backup save data files.
