Missing Executable FIX
Missing Executable FIX

I dont know if this fix is known on these forums but I couldnt find a fix for my solution in the forums or via google.
Anyways I haven't been able to play some of my games after a format/drive letter change.
The steam folder was intact. Noting moved, deleted etc after the format, only the drive letter changed.
Normally Steam updates all the games but some game didn't work anymore. After a while I noticed that the drive letter was G instead of D
I performed the folliinw instruction and now all games are now working again.

USE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AT YOUR OWN RISK

- Exit Steam
- Goto your steamapps folder ie D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\
- open the corresponding *.acf file, of the game that doesnt work, with an editor capable of handling non windows line endings (ie Notepad++)
- Edit the InstallDir and appinstalldir field to the correct path. Leave all others setting as they are. In my case I changed the drive letter from g do d
"InstallDir" "g:\\games\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\aliens vs predator"
"appinstalldir" "g:\\games\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\aliens vs predator"
to
"InstallDir" "d:\\games\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\aliens vs predator"
"appinstalldir" "d:\\games\\steam\\steamapps\\common\\aliens vs predator"

Sometimes the InstallDir was empty and I left it that way.

- Save and Exit
- Start Steam
- Right-click game
- Select properties
- Select Local Files tab
- Click Verify Integrity of Game CACHE
- Start Game
- Enjoy.

Dude, you're a God amongst man. After all the recommended Steam fixes only this one worked. And it's so simple.

You should mention that to get the right appid, you go onto the store page of that game and it's in the url.

:D
