Unable to connect to the steam network. "Offline mode" is unavailable because there is no steam login information stored on this computer

The title says it all. I am getting sick of Steam and their problems. I had it set on offline mode but for some reason it wants to connect to the internet. It obviously doesn't know what offline means. If anybody comes up with a solution let me know.

I have spoken to Steam Support about this issue, and even after I followed all the advice they gave me, it still comes up with the same message... So they don't have a clue what is causing this obviously. What a joke of a service this is.

They gave you advice? You should be thankful. I got nonsense when I asked. Tell us more about your situation. One of the last updates fixed the problem for me.

What the hell is there no solution to this problem? I have a couple hundred of dollars of games that I can't get any access to whatsoever.

Ummm... no. All other internet works. In my case I can log into steam with some router cable voodoo.

I only use offline while I'm on campus (since steam is blocked by a firewall or something) first time I've ever gotten an error that won't let me work in offline mode. Seems there isn't any way around it, and you can't load up the games separate from steam either (they either give an error saying to load it via steam or they start booting steam which has it's own error about not having login credentials stored, but I was pretty sure I did that)

This is disappointing since I have like several hours till class, having spent an hour and a half trying to fix this.

From what everyone is saying though it seems like an error with the last update, maybe hopefully they will fix this soon.

I moved house and lost my internet connection in the process but not even putting Steam into OFFLINE mode stopped Steam from wanting to go online and authenticate. This meant that i was not able to use anything Steam related while i waited for my connection.

Steam dont care. They got their money from us but from me they wont be getting any more even if this is fixed.

Now i have nothing but problems with Steam and their Bootstrapping error.

Needless to say that this is the only problem i have had with steam in a years worth of use. However the issues i am having are big enough for me not to bother with any future titles that force this platform on me.

i have tried for YEARS to get the socalled "offline mode" to work . it will always try to login to steam, to authenticate my account. i own 107 games on steam, and spotty internet connection (i live out of town). So i have decide, as so meany have, to look elts where.(and yess there are lots of good options out there. steam is not the only way! )

Steam is a download service for broadband users. It certainly is not for everyone but most of the world is connected to the internet whenever their computer is on. If you have crap internet I would not use STeam, Origin or Uplay. I would stick with old games from gog.com because old games did not require accounts.

Funny, but Uplay and Origin don't need to force periodic online checks in order for people to access their game libraries. Valve need to find a better way of assuring account validity.
