Why are there no steam gift cards in Canada

For my friend's birthday I wanted to get him a steam gift card. When I was looking for it at Bestbuy and Ebgames a ask the person who was working there if they had some in stock and he told me they are not in Canada. Why?

Same question for me : Why? Steam Gamers are everywere, and we can only buy Steam Gift Cards in USA. Why, why and why?

"Canadians buy things on steam in US Dollars, not Canadian dollars. The problem would be that buying a $50 card at a store wouldn't mean you could buy a $50 game after conversion. Canadian stores could, I suppose, sell cards in US denominations, but then they'd have to reprice them constantly according to conversion, or else charge some flat rate over the $50 which would probably be worse than just using your credit card in the first place.

As long as Steam charges Canadians in USD, there won't be steam wallet cards in Canada."

Why not just get your friend a normal pre-paid credit card, assuming they don't already have a credit card.

No no! Don't do that. Prepaid or gift cards are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as hell to use. Basically, you'll always struggle to use the remaining money on it since you cannot use more than one paiement option at the same time (except for your Steam wallet first but it doesn't make for it here).

And no! There is no option to send money to the Steam wallet of your friend directly either.

I would say, temporally give him your credit card info and make him add Steam wallet funds with it OR buy him some games from his wish list.
