New comment/notification puts me at the end of the thread

Step 1: I subscribe to a thread
Step 2: Lately it seems when I get a notification of unread comments to the (step 1) thread it puts me at the end of it.

One thread had +6 comments but when I clicked it; only the very last 1 was highlighted

In the past it would save my spot/location and I would read +6 from the highlighted portion but last few days not anymore

Anyone else?

I've been using Microsoft Edge as the browser of my choice; and I use Edge to view Desktop Steam which has put me at the end of the thread post. Multiple threads not just 1

Yeah, this has been a consistent issue for me for several weeks now. Before that, notification links linked to the first unread comment, now it consistently links to the last comment in the thread.

Really annoying. Especially for very active topics, and topics you don't want to miss anything. Practically rendering it useless. Remembering the new comment count and then navigating back through paging is not feasible.

Yeah, it's one definitely one of the not-so-smart changes Valve has made. Especially since users wanting to go to the last comment can easily do so anyway, so this really doesn't add anything for anyone, and just makes things worse...

I doubt it was a deliberate change and have been waiting for a bug fix. It's been such a long time now though… :( Makes you wonder what is happening…

If its actually a bug, we might have to wait for years -- anything that does not affect business has a priority somewhere around "infinite negative".

If, on the other hand, we could trick the store into giving us a -99% discount on everything, the bug would be fixed 3 years ago.
