Steam Sharing with a friend

Hi, my mate is trying to share a game with me but since this new steam families update i am not getting any of the previous settings to change/update. for one thing its asking me to go here "MANAGE FAMILY LIBRARY SHARING" which does not seem to exist anymore and i cannot add them to a family as they are not in the same IP range as me has anyone got any ideas on this ? it also says that the account needs to sign into my PC and allow family sharing that way but again the setting no longer exists.

Old sharing doesn't exist anymore.

Unfortunately, the new system intended to narrow sharing down only with people under the same household.

If you were sharing libraries with your friend before, then you screwed yourself over the moment you attempted to migrate over and use the new Steam Family system for game sharing. Doing so locks you out of the legacy system permanently, which still exists and functions in the client, but only up to early 2025, mainly as a grace period to give people the chance to migrate over to Steam Families without losing track of who you were sharing with under the old method.
