Need advice on what I should do about buying steam code

I'm sorry about the long title but I got a $50 virtual mastercard from Swagbucks and last time I used one to add to my steam wallet it worked fine but this time it denied my card but on the myprepaidcenter site it says its pending. I'm not disputing it. I talked to mastercard in chat but they wanted me to call. I did some searching and a lot saying I should wait it out to see if it goes through or refunded back to the card. If it does get refunded back to the card should I try to add the $50 to my steam wallet again on the steam site or app? Or should I buy a card from amazon or a code from gamestop?

Get one from GameStop. Amazon only has 3rd party Steam cards.

Are there taxes on it? Cause I wouldn't have enough to cover it if its over $50

In the US? There should not be taxes on gift cards, no.

I don't like to say it but the easiest way so far seems - for me - to use Paypal and NOT bind or remember or what else.
Online Steam Wallet Codes are all somehow fishy and offline is a joke. :-(

Do any of yall think I'll get the $50 back on the card if the transaction fails or is it possible it goes through even though it got denied by steam? Its only been a few days and still $0 on the card and pending transaction for stream. It'll probably be 30 days until something happens :(
