You do not need to change your country unless you plan to stay there more than a few months.

You can maintain your steam home country while abroad. You can continue to use your home country payment methods while abroad as well

Note some MP games may have various restrictions though. My understanding is that FF13 Online restricts your account by region, so if you're in say Europe, you're still forced to play on the US servers due to the way their region locking works. But this kind of thing is sort of rare.
