Contacting Steam support
Hi all,

I've been using steam for years without an issue so in some sense I'm fairly new to here. I've been trying to find a way to contact Steam support directly but all I get is a closed loop of self help pages and faqs, none of which is of any help. Loosing a plot somewhat so hoping one of you good folks will be able to point me in a correct direction and allow me a 'facepalm-moment'. ;)

What is the issue that requires supports assistance?

Activation issue. Steam is claiming the code I'm using has already been activated. I've already spoken to the games seller and they wanted me to get some info from Steam in regards of when it was activated. I'm guessing to ascertain if it was before or after I've bought it.

You got scammed by a shady key website.

Get a refund or issue a chargeback on the purchase and find an official key site using...

Indeed. An authorized reseller would have the tools to check it themselves.
An unauthorized keystore does not, and they don't care.
They know you won't get the information they request. They are playing for time to make it harder to chargeback the money.

Get your money back, NOW!

You don't contact steam support for unusable keys, you contact the seller or their customer service.

If they redirected you to steam support, it means that they have no intention to help you. a good seller or legitimate site won't do this.
Steam Support have given the information in the past. Feel free to check the linked post and the links it contains, and the thread in general where you'll see the OP mention they also got the information.

The steps they took:
Go to https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithCommunityContactSupport
(this also takes you to that address: Help > Steam Support > Steam Community > I need help with something not listed here)
Explain the situation. The poster over at SteamGifts said to include the message from the key seller.

Thanks folks.
@tintingaroo - I'll try the support link, thanks.
I've been using this shop for a long time and never had an issue, so I'll err at the trusting side for now.

The risk of being scammed is always there and I appreciate all your comments :)
I'll update once I have any more info.

Well, this is certainly new insight.

Its not like support can do anything to fix the unusable codes but at least they can tell you the activation time. Thank you for sharing this! :YuukaHappy::GreenNote:

No, it really isn't, unless you are using unauthorized stores.
