TITAN QUEST ANNIVERSARY EDITION - Unable to sync
I have installed this game

https://store.steampowered.com/app/475150

but no matter what I do, there is alway "unable to sync" error when I am trying to start game.

The developers are clearly incompetent, but how can I deal with their incompetence now?

If Steam is unable to ever finish the cloud sync, then I can't trigger option to take my local files anymore by disabling steam cloud in steam, deleting files (including remotecache.vdf in 475150 folder of steam userdata), restarting steam client and enabling cloud again.

There is no option to simply delete all files in cloud. So how should I proceed? My idea was to restore game saves from my local backups and then force steam cloud to take those, but I can't trigger conflict dialogue.

Titan Quest uses "My Games" folder to store saves and remotecache.vdf is huge (270 Kbytes) and contains lots of entries, to example:

"475150" { "ChangeNumber" "0" "ostype" "0" "My Games/Titan Quest - Immortal Throne/SaveData/Main/PlayMenu.mnu" { "root" "2" "size" "142" "localtime" "1557421533" "time" "1557421532" "remotetime" "1557421532" "sha" "456751b19858fdaa2531e31d812e85008c9fccc0" "syncstate" "1" "persiststate" "0" "platformstosync2" "1" } "My Games/Titan Quest - Immortal Throne/SaveData/Main/_Nedura/Backup/Levels_World_World01.map/Normal/map.dat" { "root" "2" "size" "0" "localtime" "0" "time" "0" "remotetime" "1478453235" "sha" "0000000000000000000000000000000000000000" "syncstate" "1" "persiststate" "2" "platformstosync2" "1" } ... lost of entries here }

Any idea what to do?

Best place would be the games own forum and you will see answers
https://steamcommunity.com/app/475150/discussions/

Ok, after some weird manipulations with starting game, changing files and restarting steam I made game completely disappears from https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage

But interesting enough the file remotecache.vdf is still huge.

How do I force steam to forget its content? It's clearly saved elsewhere, because it pops up old content. Is there an option to remove remotecache.vdf file?

Ok, found a bug in steam forum, great! If I put file name followerd by question mark, then it's dected as url. Incompetent developers are everywhere. Call me if you need a competent developer, who is capable of covering with unit tests some basic API.

readme.txt?
autoexec.bat?

sure, cool links are above... ><

There is a pinned topic which ask players to disable steam cloud saves, so no, it's clearly not the "best place".

Steam cloud saving is Steam feature, isn't it? This is steam forum, should be a correct place to ask.

Its a game issue or all games would have the issue

Look, before game even starts, I become "unable to sync" error from Steam. Earlier there were all the files, now there are none, but remotecache.vdf is 250 Kbytes and its content is not updated.

I am very strongly believe this is Steam problem. Devs were just unlucky enough that this happened to me with their game.

How can I synchronize remotecache.vdf or delete its entries? Upon deleting file with/without restarting Steam, with disabling/re-enabling steam cloud saves (in options of steam client) or game cloud saves (in options of game) the content of remotecache.vdf is staled and wrong!

If cloud saving is an issue on a specific game then it's best to ask in the game forum. The feature works absolutely fine so it's up to the developers of the respective game that their software is compatible and works. Titan Quest has had cloud save issues for years and the developers recommend that you don't use it so it's not a Steam issue if the developers can't get their house in order with this aspect.

@J4MESOX4D, you are missing the point. Files *were* in steam clouds. It's the Steam is not able to sync them before game even loads.

Yes and the developers need to make an API call to retrieve these files client-side. Thousands upon thousands of games have no issue with this aspect but a tiny minority like Titan Quest do and that''s something you need to address and seek in the game forum. If Steam houses the files then it's done its job and it's up to the developers to ensure their game can retrieve the non-local files.

@J4MESOX4D, oh man, are you even barely related to a programming? I am programmer myself, not a web-programmer though.

What API call can make an app which are not even loaded???

I am not having issue with synchronizing game save after I've played. It's only Steam yet, that is trying to sync files from it's own storage. Game will start few moments later, yet there is already a problem!

Funny how the self-proclaimed industry experts always have issues with the most basic of stuff. You've literally done everything except the very basics so you're going to get nowhere. The game forum literally has all the answers you require even from the horses mouth.
