Friend list empty

I haven't been online on my friend list for over 180 days and when i logged in to talk to my son because he lost his phone service my friend list is empty meanwhile i have 44 friends on steam. Any way to fix it or am i missing something that the did with the friend list as i reall don't talk to people on my friend list so i don't go online in it.

Exit Steam from the Steam top left then log in again .
Sometimes glitches happen and restarting Steam fixes it.

Ok will have to try that when i'm done with my game as steam will close my game out if i close steam.

Open the friendlist window twice.

This worked had to close it and reopen it.
