Meta Quest 3S using Steam VR has no sound
I boot up Steam VR and it gets to when I'm in the hub world that there is no sound through the quest speakers. I've looked everywhere but I swear I'm the only one with this specific issue. if someone has the answer I'd be so freaking happy.

I have been experiencing this same issue with the Meta 3s and have found a solution. I had uninstalled and reinstalled not just steam and meta apps but the devices and drivers. Turns out it has something to do with the headset, NOT steam; specifically I believe its the USB streaming in the headset. I followed the process to reset the software here:

https://www.meta.com/help/quest/software_update/

It solved the problem immediately, but later the issue occurred again and when I tried to reboot I noticed the headset wouldn't let me shut down because it was attempting to auto-update. I went through the process yet again, and then turned off the "auto update" in the settings from inside the headset, and have had no issues since. This may be a temporary solution because at some point, updates may be required to remain functional, but for now it seems, Meta's headset software updates are causing the problem for me.

Just set your Quest as the default audio device in Windows audio settings,

Right clock on the speaker on the taskbar and choose sound settings.

Must set quest as output for audio on your OS sound settings. Or else it output sound else where.

Could you point out which one. Because I've tried both 'Oculus Virtual Audio Device' & 'Steam Streaming Speaker' and neither one works even though it should

Try this.
Windows settings > System > sound > click on more sound settings this will open new box call sound, now click to highlight your Oculus virtual audio device, now click on the button that say "set to default", now launch your Steam home, or game and see if sound play, also ensure vol on oculus itself is not turn down, or via the sound settings on windows, as well ensure it's not set to mute on windows either from the volume option, I had a friend who did everything, but realize he muted his vol lol.

Anyways hope it works.

Oh and lastly make sure game vol not turn down, or muted.

yea sorry. tried all that twice but no luck. pretty much everytime i launch it pops up with "Steam Link Audio is disabled. One or more Steam Streaming Audio Endpoints are disabled. Audio will not function with Steam Link unless these are enabled" i enabled them all even the mic option in the output but no luck

Same here Meta Quest 3S refuses to pickup STEAM VR and any game from it. I've tried everything I can think of...just doesn't want to work.

Hi all, I also recently experienced this issue: No sound in Quest 3 headset while running Meta Quest Link (wired connection)

After reinstalling all software / drivers, resetting my headset etc to no avail, the solution turned out to be Nahimic! It was trying to optimise my audio and obviously wasn’t doing a very good job. The simple solution: First make sure that you’ve selected Oculus Virtual Audio Device as the sound output in windows, then open the Nahimic Audio Companion App on your PC, in the app click on settings > remove Nahimic optimisations > Remove.
My audio immediately returned in the quest at this point.

Of course this is only going to work if you actually have Nahimic on your pc, if not then open your sound software and look for something similar and disable it.
Also, going to windows settings > System > Oculus Virtual Audio device > Advanced settings > here you will see Audio enhancements and Spatial sound - try playing around with these two and see if it makes any difference.

Hope this helps and good luck!
