Wait can i seriously not give my steam login info to person in another country?
What kind of idiotic rule is this, if i want my friend in another country to try out a game i like and i give him my account access voluntarily why does valve care or even have an issue with this. This can't be right, there is no issue with console accounts so maybe i'm reading this wrong

i don't think it has anything to do with security WHEN I AM GIVING THE NECESSARY INFO, it's pretty much strong arming people to buying their own games and it's anti consumer, my effing brother is my family but has a job in eu, the hell does steam have an issue with whom i'm giving my login info too
you are not allowed to disclose your login credentials to anyone. Account sharing is forbidden in accordance with Section 1 C of the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

For one you are technically not even allowed to use a VPN on Steam. They don't crack down on it, but it's still not allowed.

Second, it's not about where you login, it's about who else gets access if you do.

You can log in on your friends computer, play a game on it even, but as soon as you are done you have to make sure your friend does not get access to your account.

"You can log in on your friends computer, play a game on it even, but as soon as you are done you have to make sure your friend does not get access to your account" yeah i couldn't understand properly, can you give more details

"For one you are technically not even allowed to use a VPN on Steam. They don't crack down on it, but it's still not allowed." from what i understand login with a vpn is fine right, you must be talking about purchases?

You are thinking of game sharing that consoles have the ability to do just like steam has but this is different then sharing your actual account info that is never allowed.

sorry but i have to say i'm talking about non game sharing info on consoles, i also know how steam family sharing works and it's for a single house hold, pretty much an inferior version
It doesn't matter if it's for game sharing or not as any use of your account by others is not allowed.

Here is a example from xbox's website talking about that:

https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/family-online-safety/enforcement/protecting-players-from-account-related-offenses

What is account theft?

Account theft is the unauthorized use of someone else’s Microsoft account. Buying, selling, sharing, borrowing, or trading Microsoft accounts is a violation of the Microsoft Services Agreement and the Community Standards for Xbox.

i don't think valve even has the means to know that, again what if i travel back and forth in just two days and use two different machines one for each region, what if i use vpn, all these things don't make sense with steam's issue with what i do with my login info. what if i disable my steam guard too when i use vpn or travel back and forth?

that is completely different from giving login info, what they are talking about is mostly breaking and entering, your xbox account and the Microsoft account stays the same cause it's on a specific machine and you are giving entry. Steam just has an issue with giving login

If it's only you using your account it does not matter as long as you are using it legitimately and sharing your account info for most online services directly is never allowed.

Companies do not want this security risk or less sales because of this abuse.

but that makes no sense, it's literally the same thing, i'm using another machine when i go to another region or use vpn which hides all my details?

You are not allowed to let anyone other than yourself have access to the account. There is nothing more you need to know here, no "details" necessary.

And no, you are not allowed to log in on Steam with VPN enabled. Again, they don't actually punish you if you do, but you did agree not to use it at all.

well i will do whatever the hell i want with my account, steam doesn't own the rights to effing money i spent , idiotic rule deserves idiotic treatment when travel times literally negate this stupid rule. A DAY , A DAY it takes to travel around the world btw

Your account can actually get locked or even terminated if Valve discovers account sharing.

The article even states it unambigiously: Do not use Steam accounts which you did not create.

You can do a lot of things, that doesn't mean Valve can't do anything about it.

Sharing your account can lead to straight up account termination.

And before you try saying it: no, you can not "sue them" if it happens. Not successfully anyway.
You agreed to the punishment should you do these things.

No you dont. Because you agreed to the terms of service when you created your account and each time you buy or activate a game.
You entered into a contract with Valve when creating your account that stipulates that you follow the rules they laid out for the use of their platform.
Its completely irrelevant if you agree to it or not. And yes, you are free to ignore their rules and do what you want.
And they are free to then suspend or terminate your account because you broke the Terms of Service.
So in the end, everything you do is on your own risk. Most likely nothing will happen if you give your friend your login details and let them try out your game.
BUT if something DOES happen because of it and your account gets banned you have no one to blame but yourself. If that risk is worth it to you is something you have to decide for yourself.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You don't have to obey the laws of the country you live in, doesn't mean you won't get punished if they catch you doing it.

You're using reductive logic to try and make what you want to do seem like a perfectly acceptable thing to do, but society doesn't work like that.

the problem is that real life money was spent, what i do with my account and whom i share it will is not of valve's concern and it objectively makes ZERO SENSE, when vpn and travel times exist.

i can literally travel right now from egypt all the way to eu in less then a day , login in to some other device and then log out, and then come back and login back to my laptop. there you go, valve is gonna make that illegal now huh, fine give me back my money with inflation included so i can go and buy it on a platform that knows how to gives respect. A stupid rule has no place in the world and i still don't understand what exactly valve has an issue with when it comes to adults consenting infos.

what they should specify is giving accounts to fraudsters and then locking account until the real owner can present the evidence. there you go, a rule that now makes sense
