💀⚰️Steam gift cards not working ⚰️💀
Hello, I bought a large batch of Steam cards. They are new and legible. I scratched off the code and entered it into my Steam wallet, but the codes for the €20, €25, and €35 cards don't work. This has never happened to me before. Are there counterfeit cards in circulation?

Try using different characters. For example the number 0 could be the letter O instead.

Thank you for your reply, but I've already tried everything.

Here is the response from Steam customer service:

---------------------------------------

Thanks for getting in touch.

It looks like the Steam Wallet code you have provided was not correctly activated by the seller.

Please contact the seller for assistance. If they're not sure how to help or they direct you back to us, please ask to speak with the store manager. The manager should be able to either provide a replacement or contact the distributor for direct assistance with activating the code. If the manager will not help, please collect their name and number so that we can provide it to their distributor.

Steam can't activate these codes because we have no access to the activation systems used by retailers. We also can't issue replacements, because we do not distribute the Wallet codes ourselves. The seller is your best resource for assistance.

Once you contact us back with the manager's information, kindly also send us a screenshot that shows the purchase receipt of the wallet code clearly. If you need help submitting a screenshot, please see our Saving a Screenshot article.

I didn't know the seller had to activate the cards. I don't really understand the procedure, and this has never happened to me before.

Is it possible the cards are counterfeit? Is it possible the cards were stolen?

What should I do now? The seller is difficult to contact, and it's not a physical store but an online one.

Is it possible to go to another store to have the cards activated?
Where did you purchase these gift cards?

On "leboncoin.fr", the seller has a well-rated profile and also sells on "Vinted"; he closed his shop and sold his stock

So you bought it from a random and unofficial website most likely selling them for dirt cheap.

Yeah, you fell for an obvious scam. The codes were most likely from cards stolen off shelves from various shops and not activated. Reviews for websites can easily be faked.

Next time, stick to official sites. Dirt cheap gift cards are almost always a scam

From what I am reading, it's a peer to peer website. So it sounds like he bought it from a random person selling on that website. About the same as if you bought a gift card off of somebody on eBay.

So yeah, sounds like you got scammed. Next time buy from an official retailer.

I often make this type of transaction; last year I bought €300 worth of Steam gift cards for €150.

I blocked the transaction on the sales website

No proper retailer sells gift cards for that cheap.

Just because you had no problem for ‘X’ amount of time doesn’t mean anything. Scammers use a tactic where they buildup a positive relationship with someone to earn their trust that way when they do their scam, the person who got scammed won’t think it’s them when it actually is.

You 100% got scammed. Stick to official sellers next time.

I understand what you're saying, but I never buy from the same seller; this is the first time I've had a transaction with this person.

I buy back at a lower cost the cards that people receive as gifts for the holidays but don't want.

Sounds like this time, you bought them from someone who stole them from a store, which would mean they weren't activated at purchase.

I did some research and the barcode starts with 505, which confirms that the distributor is InComm Payments Europe Ltd.

I contacted them to see what happens...

Well good look, but keep in mind they're not responsible on any level or in any part for 3rd party grey market shenanigans.
