Stream Background Recording isn't picking up my mic for clips

I don't know if anyone else uses the Steam Background Recording for clips but when I use it, everything records perfectly fine but when I play back, my mic never picks up even when it's turned on.
I was looking back on a clip I took and for some reason my voice never picked up. The other audio in game works fine. I know my microphone is working too cause I was able to use it in game and it's the only recording device enabled and updated.
I just wanted to know if anyone else has this issue and how they solved it because I have yet to find a solution that actually works. :(

Check you have enabled everything>Steam settings>Game recordings
scroll down all the way on the right > AUDIO recording >mic> is on>under that Record Audio From >expand arrow>select all system audio.

i checked it last week, audio still cuts out, for some reason, none of the settings regarding background noise or noise cancellation make a difference. I hope they fix it to be honest, I would love to use Steam's recording software if that just fixed that one thing.
