I have a game loaded on my pc, We bought my son a desktop for birthday, can I transfer the game to his steam account, he has other games registered at steam but cannot get this one to go due to cd key. I would rather it be on his so as I can remove from my pc.

You should join this family sharing beta if you want your family to play the games you own on separate accounts.

What really stinks is it was a walmart purchase, and Id like to remove from my pc, I agree I could do offline but cannot load it on his new pc

Stop thinking about computers and start thinking about Steam Accounts and rethink your questions.

You could gift him his own copy of the game?

When you buy a game on Steam you can't give it to someone else just like that. You will be able to use family sharing to share your games though. Did you see my link about that? It might solve your issue.

EDIT: also you can install and uninstall any game from/to any computer if that wasn't clear.

ok my account has the game on it, along with several upgrades that i have purchased over 3 years, so thats what i dont want to have to rebuy, as for the game no big deal but all that has been done, and added i hate that he cannot use it, maybe the game sharing family stuff will take care of that.

It really seems like family sharing will solve this problem for you, join the group so you eventually get invited to the beta and read up on how it works when you get access.
