Maximizing Steam in 2nd monitor (same resolution) causes it to disappear
When I start Steam it always starts on my primary monitor (46" TV, 1080p), but then I drag it to my secondary screen (24" Monitor, 1080p) which contains my Taskbar. I always then immediately maximize it so it will fill the screen. Immediately upon maximizing Steam to fill the window, it instead disappears and becomes unrecoverable. I cannot see it, drag it, or do anything, including opening a new window, minimizing/re-maximizing it, etc. I tried going to the library, or community or anything. The only thing I can do at this point is to close Steam and then re-open it.

I cannot maximize it on my second screen without causing steam to disappear. It occurs 100% of the time.

Overly detailed steps to reproduce:
1. Set up 2 1080p monitors, in extended screen array, primary on right, secondary on left.
2. Put the taskbar on the left monitor on top.
3. Open steam (allow for it to update/etc).
4. When Steam is finished and loaded as normal, drag it to the secondary (left) monitor.
5. Double click the title bar of Steam (the center to the right of where it says "Steam View Friends Games Help" - but to the left of the inbox and account name).

At this point Steam disappears, and cannot be recovered without shutting down and starting again.

Would it be appropriate? I don't use big picture.

I was already in the beta - and my windows is set to auto update (and is fully updated). It still occurs.

I opted out. Still occurs. I don't recall when it started, but it hasn't always occurred. I only started noticing it within the last month, or so.

I have the same issue. It did start around the latest Nvidia drivers, but to be honest, I care more about the drivers than I care about this, so I won't roll back.

The same happens to me. As I can tell, when I put my Steam on my secondary monitor (my left one) in fullscreen (not big picture), it seems as it opens on a third, nonexistent, monitor to the left of my secondary monitor. I can't reach it because my pointer stops at the edge of the screen as it should, since I don't have a third monitor. First occurrence about a month or two ago.

3 Monitors. Center Monitor is primary. maximizes fine on center and right monitors, left monitor is the only one with a taskbar, and it disappears when maximized (on steam beta and steam regular) Using AMD beta drivers on windows 8.1. Noticed it a few weeks ago but I generally dont maximize steam so I just ignored it.

I checked my computer at work, and it also has the same issue, on the left monitor with a dual monitor setup. Right is the primary. Windows 7, not latest updates (work enforced updates only), but my home one is totally updated. Nvidia drivers on this PC and AMD at home, so it's definitely a Steam bug not related to setup outside of dual monitors (so far at least).

I have the same issue also. I just push ALT+SPACE then R to restore it into a window.

Frustrating bug.

I've been having this same issue for a while now, thought I was the only one. I feel like this isn't a big enough problem for valve to notice it. Probably going to be a long time for a fix :(

ive been having this issue for.....well it feels like forever....ive been fixing it by changing my resolution and back again. or just forcing steam to shut down and then startit up again.
im running a 2 monitor setup.

thanks for the alt+space R trick....that makes this bug less frustrating but its still bothersome.

Agreed very frustrating! thanks for the restore trick, I was closing my steam client and restarting it lol

I've learned to just not maximize the steam client in my secondary monitor. At work, I use steam on a 1 monitor set up now, which helps. At home, I just pre-size the screen to the window and not touch it so I don't feel obligated to press the damn maximize button.

having the same issue.

another shortcut to get it where it was is Windows key + cursor down, at least that's been working for me.

hope it gets fixed sometime :)

This doesn't help your cause but I wanna know how you can max your game into fullscreen onto your second monitor. :O
