Slow Scrolling on Mouse Wheel?
I don't know why but recently I got back on steam and when I scoll with the mouse wheel it moves stupidly slow. I swear it moves 1 Y-coordinate pixel per notch in the wheel. It doesn't do this on any other program or web browsers, just steam. Any Ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix?

*EDIT:*
As this is a old thread, I have updated with what I have learned from general PC use and from my Computer Science classes in pursing my degree.

Here are the potential solutions:
1. Disconnect and reconnect mouse
2. Uninstall mouse drivers, reinstall
3. Uninstall/Reinstall Steam
4. Do 3, 2, 1 all in order.

If those still don't work it is likely only going to be solved by reinstalling Mobo drivers, Graphics drivers, or windows entirely.

While the issue may be isolated to Steam alone, not all system configurations have this issue thus there isn't much Valve can do to work on it. If the problem persists after performing the above steps, I would advise just persisting through the issue by using the scroll bar on the right instead. It's a (female dog) I know but the problem isn't worth the lenghty measures one might need to take in order to solve it. It seems most people who came across this issue before only had it solved completely when upgrading hardware.

I have this problem with any mouse I use
The same. Weird scrolling speed on steam client only. any mouse. win 8.1
Mine did this up until I got sick of it and fixed it a couple days ago. This is how it worked for me, this worked on both a Logitech and Microsoft mouse:

In Windows 7, goto Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Mouse -> Wheel tab -> Change Vertical Scrolling to 3 lines (mine was 1 by default).

This *seems* to have fixed it for me, however huge YMMV.
Aberrált vagy. Ügy lezárva.
Thanks MxMissile, that seems to have worked. It does make it harder to scroll on any browser or client but it is still bearable.
this is a workaround. thanks....but no use for my needs. if someone in support reading this, please change line scrolling value as in IE or explorer. i realy dont want to change Windows setting, because of other apps. maybe there is registry settings?
This problem has just started happening with my Steam client (in the last few days). No hardware change at all (same pc, same mouse).

Anyone else?

Have you gotten any software updates? i.e. drivers for the mouse. I had the problem on my old laptop and only had it permanently fixed with my new gaming rig. What Mxmissile did works but it also affects everything on the computer.
No updates to mouse drivers to my knowledge, but I will look into a stealth update via Microsoft.
I have it set to 3 be default Still slow.
same problem, but if i set in on my mouse speed on 3 my other programs go stupidly fast
I got this problem too :(
I found this old thread while searching for solution to this issue..

I have the mouse wheel scrolling set to the default 3 lines in Windows 7, and the scrolling in Steam Client is way slower than in any other programs, and it's very annoying!

I even made a screenshot comparison where you can see the difference one tick of mousewheel scrolls for me in Steam Client and when using the store from external browsers like Chrome or Firefox.

does it function like this for everyone using Windows 7 and Logitech mouse? I have had three very different rigs, and all had the same issue. Odd thing is that the issue is mainly in the store view, for example steam client library (texts version) speed is much better...
