Steam Disk Read Error!

I downloaded Just Cause 2 and when i clicked play an error popped up and said 'an error occurred while updating Just Cause 2 (disk read error)'. I fully downloaded the game but it is still in the downloads section of Steam.

I tried verifying the integrity of the game cache and it comes up with '55 files missing...and will update' but nothing happens.

I've also re-installed the game but still no luck.

Can someone PLEEEEEEAAAAAAAASE HELP!

Sorry but the video didn't help :( When the file was locked and you had to unlock it, my file was already unlocked? What do I do?

Go in your steam folder \Steam\logs\
Find file content_log.txt
Open whit notepad
I had error like thisUpdate job for app 730 canceled: Failed to backup file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\bin\engine.dll (Disk read failure)

Normaly its last one on list
find that file adn rename whell i deleted it
Than go in steam Library and pres right mouse on your game
And find Properties
Than go in Local files
and press VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...

Actually, what worked for me was a little different. After looking at the content log, I traced the files in the steamapps/common/insert_game_title_here and deleted the files which were locked. After that I simply clicked download or update and it ran smoothly. This was after trying to verify game cache, changing permission of the entire file, redownloading steam, redownloading the entire game and countless hours of googling. Hope this helps.

I buy CS:GO and i full download it i click start button but nothing happens few moments later i see Counter Strike Global Ofennsive (disk read error)'.

Can someone pleas add on steam and tell me how to fix it!

Not that this helps but i left the game for about a year and then when once one year had passed, the game started working. Strange

Even though i ran Steam with admin it still didn't work before (maybe becuase my actual account wasn't admin). However, when i converted my account to Admin the error stopped.

Maybe your Anti Virus program deleted the game's important file . Try restoring file from your virus program vault

This happened to me with Skyrim, for some reason it was installed beyond my security privileges, so i went to properties of skyrim and went to browse local files, it said i didn't have access so I logged in as admin and gave myself full access for security privileges
