Missing games from library - solution
Did fresh install of system, steam client & new steam folder. Game files were missing, that was to be expected. Unfortunately my games library was reduced by 50%. All games were listed in my account profile but not in the library. Rised the ticket with steam support and got very quick answer.

Hello,
Please complete the steps below to refresh your configuration files for Steam:
Exit Steam.
Please open Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox and type steam://flushconfig then press Enter. (If asked to allow this website to open a program, please click 'Allow' or 'OK')
When prompted by Steam to reset your configuration, please click 'OK' to confirm.
Once done, login to Steam and re-test the issue.

I hope it will help someone to save some nerves and time in the future.

Hi,

5 games were missing from my library, i've tried everything (reset, steam repair...) before reading your tip. It works for me.

Thank you very much.

This should help restore your library.

If you have multiple installation folders for games doing this process will remove them. You will need to add the folders again in Steam so that your games will appear as installed.

In order to add the folders please do the following:

1. Open Steam
2. Click Steam > Settings (Preferences on Mac)
3. Navigate to the 'Downloads' tab
4. Click the 'Steam Library Folders' button
5. Click on 'Add Library Folder' and add the directory that contains your games
6. Click 'OK'
7. Restart Steam
Is there some way to tell whether you're a victim of this bug or not? I have too many games to keep track of them all, so I have no clue if any are missing. If they're games I got, say, from a bundle or something and haven't ever played yet, it could easily happen without my knowledge. Does there seem to be any pattern to it?

I believe you can go into your account management section and view all past downloads and purchases.

It will be quite the feat to compare a list of 200-300 games with the ones in my library, lol. Not impossible but more work than I want to do right now. ;)

Definitely an activity for a day where you've got absolutely nothing else to do lol
They'll probably have the bug fixed by then. ;)

This didn't work for me... I can launch the game from its store page, but my library cannot find it

Thank you! It saved one of my games that I was having trouble trying to get it back and thankfully I stumbled upon this!

Hey, did you find any solution for the problem. I have the exact same bug, can launch from store but missing in Library.

I had this happen to me tonight, with just a couple of games. The flushconfig thing didn't work for me (though it's good to know about). I finally just shrugged and started to reinstall the games, but I left the original installation folders intact.

Before the download even started, Steam said "Discovering Existing Files", a process that took about the same amount of time as when you verify your game cache. Of course all the files were there waiting, so in only a few moments, Steam was done "downloading", and the games were back in my library. So as long as the game is actually installed where it should be, the same thing should happen for you, with no re-downloading necessary.
