Borrowed games buying dlc
So im borrowing mhw iceborne from my brother and i was wondering if i bought the game and then get more money to buy the dlc would i still keep all of my stuff from the dlc when i buy it again?

If i remember right, if you own a game you can not play the dlc of a shared library of that game.

Correct. If you only own the base game, you can't borrow the base game + DLC.

And if the savegame relies on content from the DLC, it too will become unavailable.

Yeah, it very much depends on how the game handles this situation. There are a couple of options how this could go:
  • The game doesn't even read savefiles from games written with a different set of DLCs
  • The game will read the savefile, but discards stuff from DLCs that it doesn't own
  • The game will read the savefile, and keep data from other DLCs
  • The game will read the savefile, and even lets you use items from other DLCs that you already have in your inventory
