Remove Controller from steam forever

I like to emulate games on my computer. I prefer to play those games with my PS5 controller. However my controller is currently connected to steam and i cant find out how to get steam to disconnect from it. while it is connect to steam i cant use it to play my emluated games. Please someone help. I have looked everywhere and can not find a solution. every time i Connect to controller to my pc it also connects with steam.

Are you sure you can't, or you forgot to setup controller for the emulator?

Most emulators default to using Xbox layout, or joycon layout, not PlayStation, and for PS5 controllers you will need to use a controller emulations to convert it to Xbox/joycon.

Close Steam. Does your emulator work with the gamepad then?

Ive closed steam and I have DS4windows. Ive gotten my ps5 controller to work with my emulators before. but when it connects to steam I cant find out how to get steam to forget the controller.

If using DS4Windows make sure Steam is closed before you load DS4Windows and connect the controller. Also make sure hide DS4 is selected .

Have you tried the troubleshooting step I just outlined?
