My friend is community banned and we don't know why.
My irl friend has gotten a community ban on his account and we don't know why. the ban says its due in 2038 which to my knowledge means its permanent and he hasn't done anything worthy of it, we looked through his comment and community history. he has posted a variety of videos from counter strike to the community but none harmful or toxic.

For context, I have a negative deadside review posted from my time playing in very early alpha. twice now people (most likely scammers) have attempted to reach out to me to trade one of my cs knifes via a comment on my deadside review. we had thought this was pretty funny and last night he left a comment on the post, the same as theirs, making a ridiculously high offer on one of my knives. (the comment verbatim "i want to buy your talon fade, offering $5600, feel free to shoot me a friend request if that interests you.") the reason for ban as listed is "This account has been locked for posting or upvoting suspicious content on steam". this coupled with the comment in question being the only piece of community content of his that's been forcibly removed since the ban so we are lead to believe its that, however neither of the other comments have been removed nor their accounts banned in anyway.

He has submitted a ticket but god only knows the ban will probably reach 2038 before he gets a reply, so I was hoping someone more knowledgeable or experienced in this problem could shed some light as to what happened, what we can do and if we can get anymore infomation about the ban.

I've attached imgur links with relevant information and a link to my review.

The review can also be found manually on my profile.

Nothing to do but wait and hope. Support can and often does remove community strikes, if he reaches out to them in a reasonable manner. Give it a week maybe to clear things up, and if it's only the part you said, there is a good chance, that it will be lifted.

Thanks, it truly is every ive listed. Were not looking for validation or anything stupid like that, were just trying to resolve this so we can continue our wingman shotguns only road to global
Keep in mind that you are not allowed to sell anything from your Steam account for money. Not even Steam inventory items. Such actions are a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement.

our Account, including any information pertaining to it (e.g.: contact information, billing information, Account history and Subscriptions, etc.), is strictly personal. You may therefore not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any Subscriptions other than if and as expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any Subscription Terms or Rules of Use) or as otherwise specifically permitted by Valve.

So called real money trades can get the account not only community banned, but even trade banned or the account suspended.

P.S.: Your friend may want to remove some of that information as their account name is shown in full.

Sarcasm is hard to detect online.

You follow a comment like that with something like this: 🙃

But even that can land you in hot water...

P.S.: Good catch, Cathulhu

thanks for the insight. I guess its stupid to point and say "he did it too" like a child but there was at the time of his comment and still is a comment on the review offering cash for my knife the same as him.

how do I view what im following, I didnt even know that was a thing
All your friend can do is work with Support and try and convince them that he was merely mimicking other comments. This is pretty daft behaviour in itself though as anyone can report such content or it can be detected and flagged via the automated detection. As said above, sarcasm can be hard to detect especially through automation or whereby context and circumstance isn't taken into account. Just because suspicious content hasn't been deleted doesn't mean it should be repeated.
