"Too many requests" is an IP rate limit added back in early October 2022 for the Market and inventories...

wuddih eredeti hozzászólása:
this restriction is per IP, so any form of shared internet connection is very likely to trigger it faster.

of course, scripts/browser addons also contribute to exceeding the limit because they might do things you dont requests you dont necessarily notice.

f.e. Augmented Steam does 2-3 additional requests every time you click a marketable item

the restriction is not short, it might even be longer than 2 days.

solution: change IP if you wanna use it earlier.

wuddih eredeti hozzászólása:
1) disable all Steam-related browser addons/userscripts
2) turn off any shared connection (VPN/proxy/kick roommates off router/etc.)

and after doing that, do things a bit slower.
certain url nodes of Steam were severely rate limited for a few weeks, it is more relaxed now but depending on how they block, people/networks might still be affected by it.

WhatZit eredeti hozzászólása:
At the end of October, Valve reduced the permissible request rate for inventory lookups (endpoints).

This broke all Steam Market browser addons that heavily interrogated your owned items, typically causing a "429 Too Many requests" IP ban after a mere half-dozen transactions. The ban can easily last 6 hours, and it auto-refreshes if you exceed the limit again during the ban.

According to findings on the ArchiSteamFarm github, extension developers will need to forcibly cap the number of matches returned to 2000 (via the "count" parameter), and introduce other delays so as to guarantee only 1 request every 4 seconds.

This is deliberate behavior on Valve's part. Until the addon devs update their code, you can't do a damn thing about it except change your IP and go back to using only the clunky, non-enhanced official Steam Client (which apparently isn't affected).

tl;dr... Change your IP.

That specific error is only for the IP rate limit.

If you can't change your IP, you will have to wait a couple days at least before you try to access the market/inventory again.

hello mate i tried using the opera gxs vpn and it allowed me to use steam market but i made a support request regarding the error and i added in the post that i used the vpn for 2mins and it worked, theitems i wanted are sold but you think its safe to use vpn for ONLYYYY steam community market? like im not interested in region change or cheaper purchases but i defo dont want my steam account perma banned so if its not allowed its not allowed.
Do not connect to a place outside of your country if you are going to use the VPN.

ok but in the settings for opera gx's vpn it doesnt say anything about region or country, at this time its disabled im not going to rush or push it and wait for steam supports response <3
so i just checked it and the selections are:

optimal location
americas
asia
europe

now im in europe UK, so putting it as europe should be safe right?
Can't open marketplace since 2 days now. I did not even use marketplace i just clicked on random items in my CSGO inventory to passively check their prices

This is pretty horrible ngl
I contacted steam support, i also enabled a vpn which worked but using a vpn being prohibited i disabled it and thought id just wait but the market is up now and im no longer using the browser extentions and/or using steam via browser, im not refreshing pages much and only going to where i need too and now its fine <3
Same problem here. I've never used vpn. I earned 3 trading cards in a game I just bought, I listed the first 2 just fine but when I try to access my inventory to sell the third one I get this error message.
